Guidelines for Journal Submissions
Content
- Content pertaining to the period from 1945 to the present is preferred.
- Submissions should reflect on historical, security, economic, political, and other developments that bear relevance to international relations and foreign affairs. Strong candidates will explore relationships between nations, analyze the structures and paradigms of international relations, and make incisive, timely, and profound contributions to academic and policy conversations across the discipline.
- The Chicago Journal of Foreign Policy welcomes submissions that focus exclusively on U.S. security and foreign affairs; we likewise welcome submissions that focus entirely on other nations. Taking the full spectrum into account is part of our mission, so we value contributions irrespective of application to U.S. affairs.
- If appropriate, one or more legally usable images, maps, or figures should be attached to all submissions. Legally usable media would include those in the public domain, available under a Creative Commons license, or includable as fair use.
Format
- Print journal submissions should not exceed an approximate maximum of 20 pages double-spaced (not including bibliography).
- 12-point Times New Roman and regular margin pages are strongly preferred.
- All citations should be provided in the Chicago style, with running footnotes and a separate bibliography listing all pieces cited. (An online version of the Chicago Manual of Style can be found here).
- Word Documents (.doc/.docx) are strongly preferred.
